Abdominoplasty
What is abdominoplasty?
Abdominoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that restores tone and a beautiful appearance to the abdomen by eliminating unsightly excess fat and skin and, in certain cases, restoring muscle tone by suturing the abdominal muscles.
Preoperative examination, surgery, and postoperative course
Preoperative examination: Dr. Manola will thoroughly examine the patient to assess their general clinical condition, explain the operation, and describe how he will perform the procedure.
He will ensure that the abdominal wall is free of pre-existing pathologies and will recommend, in addition to the routine tests for all surgical procedures, an ultrasound of the
abdominal wall and Doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs. In some cases, Dr. Manola may suggest combining the abdominoplasty with suction of the flanks or other areas of the body to
make the result even more harmonious and natural.

Abdominoplasty surgery lasts on average about two hours (the duration may vary depending on the amount of tissue to be removed and the technique chosen). It is performed in a hospital/clinic, under general anesthesia, and requires an overnight stay. Abdominal reshaping is performed through an incision that runs from the pubic bone to the iliac spines bilaterally, allowing the abdominal wall to be separated. Care is taken to separate the navel from the skin, which will then be repositioned in its new location, giving the abdomen a perfectly relaxed and toned appearance. For patients who have suffered from diastasis recti due to pregnancy, Dr. Manola also offers abdominal muscle repositioning through suturing.
The postoperative recovery from abdominoplasty is characterized by slight bruising and swelling, associated with mild discomfort that can be controlled with analgesics administered over the next 24 hours. It is recommended to stay in bed for 24 hours and maintain moderate activity for 5-7 days, after which you can safely return to work. Dr. Manola performs check-ups and dressings on his patients in the following days, the first 24 hours after the abdominoplasty, the second after a week, and the third after two. The abdominoplasty scar, located below the panty line, is “invisible” to prying eyes. To speed healing and optimize the results of the abdominoplasty, it is recommended to wear an elastic girdle for at least a month.
